Yep. While I will be flattered that someone would attempt to learn my minority language, in the common interest I personally would advocate a common language as medium of instruction and also conducting business.

However, encouraging other languages could be done as a gesture to reach out to people who have trouble comprehending any language other than their mother tongue but it should not be taken for granted.

IMO, ENGLISH should be a must in schools and no way around it. All effort must be made to provide special assistance to people who have trouble with English (atleast to provide a future level playing ground and less reason to complain about equality in competetion)
