You assume you are really fighting Islamic theocracy in Iraq (by espousing the positions you do), and not actually helping to establish it.
X, we effectively did nothing to thwart or punish the the perpetrators of any number of previous serious terrorist incidents, yet we still wound up with 9/11..
What's it going to take to convince you that to show weakness in the face of the Islamists only serve to confirm their belief that "Allah is protecting them"??
They must be confronted and defeated, or at least so "neutered" that young muslims find no "glory" to be had in joining them...
These kids need to be going to school and learning science, technology, as well tolerance for different opinions and beliefs.
And as we're seeing, that's just not happening.. And it won't happen until the US uses its own power of intimidation and "persuasion" against those who have an interest in advocating intolerance..
I mean, here's an example I just saw on CNN related to King Abdullah:
memri.org
May 3, 2004 No.706 Saudi Crown Prince on Yunbu' Attack: 'Zionism is Behind Terrorist Actions in the Kingdom... I am 95% Sure of That'
In reaction to the May 1, 2004 terrorist shooting in the offices of an oil contractor in Yunbu', Saudi Arabia, in which seven, among them two Americans, were killed, Saudi Crown Prince Abdallah ibn Abd Al-'Aziz stated at a gathering of Saudi dignitaries, including top Muslim clerics and preachers, that "the Zionists" were to blame.
And you're asking me if the overthrow of Saddam Hussein is creating more militants?
Listen X, it's comments like the above from the effective RULER of Saudi Arabia, a man considered to be a "moderate" amongst the Royal family that feed the militant movement..
It's either total denial, or it's a clever ruse to attempt to use reverse psychology against Saudi youth, making them think twice about acting as tools of Zionism..
I'm like to think the latter (which runs tremendous risks of blowback), but I fear it's the former..
