I think you delude yourself with the conspiracy theories. You backed off as you said that Cheney was blackmailing Bush.

There is no question that Bush is not the brightest or best worker or most qualified person but that's not what it is about and if you go through the last administrations you can see how foolish this type of analysis is.

I'm not arguing pro or con the following but here are the historical perceptions:

Clinton - brilliant, hands on in many ways, but distracted and allowed his underlings undue influence (similar as a result to Bush II)

Bush I - very qualified, yet unable to see the big picture which led to a surprise loss to a virtual unknown.

Regan - to my personal surprise, this actor, goes down as one of the "greats" perhaps because he could read the lines, perhaps because his dogmatic beliefs could not be shaken and he was the catalyst to the end of the USSR.

Carter - probably the most brilliant and honorable man to be President, yet historically considered one of the worst in terms of accomplishment.
