Carranza2, re: "I am confident that those who are responsible for the treatment of prisoners will be fully and adequately punished. No whitewash will take place.."

Why did you think a wide array of those supposed "terrorists" and "radicals" and "thugs" were singing like birds once we got them in custody?

Did they:

A. Recognize that the U.S. was a great ally and that their earlier willingness to die for some cause was just "too silly?"

B. Forget that they were on the other side and let a few things "slip out?"

C. Regret that they'd never dealt with that "I talk in my sleep" problem? or,

D. Do anything to avoid physical, mental or chemical torture?

Now if by some chance you chose "D," how far up the ladder do you think the knowledge and approval of torture went? Do you think we'll be able to "fully and adequately" punish the bottom of the pyramid without collapsing the top? Do you think the military and civilian authorities really mean to take this to the highest levels of government?

Get ready for a "long" investigation and a slow process that results in a whimper and not a bang.
