Now if by some chance you chose "D," how far up the ladder do you think the knowledge and approval of torture went? Do you think we'll be able to "fully and adequately" punish the bottom of the pyramid without collapsing the top? Do you think the military and civilian authorities really mean to take this to the highest levels of government?

I am not clairvoyant nor am I informed enough to even venture an opinion. To do so at this stage is foolish, though it looks like the Taguba report is a good start.

I have no idea what the investigations will show, or what the answers to your questions will be, or to what extent the upper levels of the military and/or government authorities knew or condoned what was taking place.....though you appear to have a few predispositions in that regard.
