The Bushies slandered McCain and Cleland. I don't know exactly who was involved because they don't show their ugly faces, but O'Neill has been a political operative of the Republicans ever since 1971. I did read somewhere he was involved with slandering McCain for the Bushies but I can't remember exactly. Cleland I don't know about. The Cleland smearing was a more local Georgia GOP thing, But they're all connected.
