Bush called himself "the war president" but went AWOL.
Therefore, Kerry who is a real combat hero but is being attacked as 'weak on defense" (as if) should and needs to highlight the fact that he is a decorated war hero and knows something about air-craft carriers for real. In fact he served on a carrier escort in the Gulf Of Tonkin.

Kerry has never ever grabbed about killing or heroism. He doesn't even talk about it to his family, his stepson told interviewers. I believe it. I spoke to Kerry about his war heroism and he was very humble about it.
