The soldier was reduced in rank and dismissed from the army. You've got to love the military, "excessive force = shooting to death". I don't know how many people were around for Vietnam, but I have the same exact sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I really hoped I would never experience the same disgust, wrt my own country, that I did in those years. The war supporters in those years kept saying "Love it or leave it" to the anti-war folks. The anti-war folks turned out to be right. So who is right now? I think the folks that are supporting this war need to step back, take a deep breath, forget their prejudice, and weigh the evidence. Be objective. Almost the entire country changed their mind about Vietnam. The sooner folks open their minds, and change their minds about Iraq, the fewer the US kids will die. Screw politics, this is serious. John
