Kerry is the one being slandered.
As for his remarks 33 years ago, he has already apologized. Something Cheney and Bush never do no matter how gross and grave their lies, cheating and errors of judgement.

Being able to apologize and admit mistakes is the sign of a real man. But Kerry stands by the substance of his remarks. Vietnam was wrong, atrocities were real and the brass and Nixonites were covering it up. It was really a horrendous situation by 1970. But who was to blame, not the soldiers but the policy-makers like McNamara, who has also apologized.

As we see now in the Baghdad prison, these are things that are very un-American. When we become barbarians like some of our enemies, what is the point? If we are not more civilized than they are then what business do we have lecturing them about anything? American gave up its moral dignity by allowing Vietnam to go so haywire. Kerry helped stop it and save lives. Bravo Kerry.
