Thanks for that article T L,
IMO, the jury is still out on the origins of "America's" ancient civilizations. We have visited and I have sort of studied them in Mexico and central America and just recently around Cuzco, Peru, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, etc.
I am in complete wonderment at the stone work present in the ruins. Being a geologist, I know a little bit about rock types with their various properties, lithologies, hardness which lead to the ease of quarrying, etc.. Also knowing a little bit about laying out plans, plots, etc to fit "square" with the world, I am amazed at how these civilizations could do it so perfectly. I have "shot" the north star to lay out a bearing, using a transit and tables, of course.
These people apparently did it without instrumentation.
And finally what really amazes me.. It happened so suddenly, The most sophisticated structures, thought to be built for scientific and religious reasons, "came" so fast, without a record building up to them.. To make a long story short, No gradual build up to this "sophistication" .
These intricate, complicated structures sit on nothing like it. They seem to just appear... Amazing.. I have a lot more work to do. <g>. But I have my ideas <g>
Thanks again,
