I guess the Bush/Cheney relationship parallels that between JFK and LBJ... According to Pr Dallek (of whom I read his bio on JFK, An Unfinished Life), JFK didn't like his Texan running mate but was saddled with him nonetheless... Between LBJ and Bobby Kennedy it was even hate... As I said, the US Veep's main role is to "fix things": LBJ fixed Texas for JFK in the 1960 prez election...
