I think that IACI is penalized because it is not a pure Internet play. It is viewed more as a conglomerate.

...investors are not likely to see InterActive in the same light as other Internet companies because it mixes online businesses like its Expedia travel business with some that are growing much more slowly, like the HSN shopping channel and the Ticketmaster ticketing service...."It's not appropriate to say this is another Internet company," Mr. Rashtchy said. "It doesn't grow in the same way. Its margins are lower. And its balance sheet is complicated."

Plus, you never know when Diller will decide that it is time to re-invent the company with some unrelated acquisition.
