I was right.
I gather you did not check out the analysis with your high school english teacher then.

I was correct in my analysis of Laz's sentence.
It is true that I also replied to him with an analogy that was not an accurate analog of his structure. I admitted this when Laz more or less pointed out the implied meaning of my rape analogy.

That, however, is not the critisism that you made (unsolicited I might add) about my initial reply. I don't think you embraced the distinction between what someone writes and what you assume someone thinks.

The truth is I did find it somewhat enjoyable to brush up on my grammatical analyis. I was only annoyed that these posts are not a better medium for sentence diagrams as that can make the meanings a lot clearer (I'm still rusty on the subordinate clauses). So much information is transmitted in a much sloppier, spoken style these days that it makes the connection between words and thoughts even more tenuous.

I also found it amusing that you bounced back time after time with an assertion that you knew Laz's thoughts, without consulting him, regardless of what he wrote. I knew you would never be able to support such a position and it was interesting to see when you would come to that realization.

Your charactor assassination directed at Laz's morality was abusive.
It's a given that questioning the morality of a position is not going to be seen as praise.

Still, there is no way to see Laz's post to which I originally responded as a condemnation of the actions of the torturers. He did not say it was "okay" but he did offer up the excuse that it should not be indicted, because there were similar crimes in other places. Regardless of which analogy is used or none, I still find that rationalization to be morally suspect.

Since Laz has now returned and 'again' expressed the meaning of his position,
Laz still has not disavowed that position even though he took exception to my malformed New York City analogy.
