Jim, RE: "But a power like the US shouldn't be run by other countries don't you think? "

America is not controlled by other countries.

America is unilaterally doing what it wants to do.

And maybe that's the problem.

You think America is attacking Iraq by proxy of another country? This is untrue.

I know someone that was continually asked for advice by the people working directly for a former President (this was before Bush Sr). America's involvement in the Middle East was (and I believe still is) mainly driven by our need for stability of the region due to oil.

It is American government's decision to (attempt to) create stability in the region. It protects world oil supply.

Palestine cannot give the world stability in oil. Israel and Saudia Arabia can. Of course, if the govt were smart they'd take the token gift from the auto manufacturers and start taxing gas to reduce economic dependency on an area that is most unstable.

Why is it another country's fault if we decide to create a more stable region in the middle east? The underlying issue is our oil consumption and our lack of handling this properly - this is our decision and our fault.

The USA govt is protecting not only our oil supply, but also everyone in the world. In an effort to reduce risk to anyone in the world. It's not just our own supply we are protecting, it's everyone's, so there's less chance of a world war from ever occurring.

No one is controlling the USA. We are granting other countries the right to protect oil needs.

This is our decision. This is a decision under our control. This is something we control. If the decision is wrong, then this is our fault. We are accountable for our decisions - we don't blame our decisions onto others. America is accountable for its own decisions.

Voters are not demanding our system to be changed - instead it caters to politicians catering to gas-guzzling SUV owners.

All this, as GM & Ford CEOs said to tax gas. The govt doesn't even take this token gift.

Do not blame another country for our own decisions.

Regards,
Amy J
