James, be careful. To date ZERO sales, as the M3 is not available for sale in the STATES until Fall 1997. I believe International availability is later.
I'll admit, this sounds good, but so far I don't see this reversing BOCI sales trend. I sold more short (50% more of previous position) today at 8 on this news.
I am though going to watch and monitor the Ramp company and U.S. business carefully. Please note BOCI only has International "sales" rights, per the press release.
I did talk to several people at Ramp today, and I have to say all of them were quite professional.
I have also talked to InfoSource, a market research firm based in Switzterland, and initial studies indicate this is a niche market, not a killer category. They compare this to the multiline "strip" boxes for fax, phone, modem etc., like "The Stick".
But hey, its a move, and you can't blame BOCI for not trying. It appears this move cannot hurt BOCI, although I do not know the details of the agreement, regarding any risk or liability BOCI would incur under the agreement.
I do though believe that this news CURRENTLY does not justify the rise in the stock price. (Thus my additional short)
