Stop Kerry by throwing the bad guys some red meat. Throw the bad guys some red meat in order to get re-elected? Assuming "bad guys" means the other party (and not Arab public opinion) - who do you think will swing their vote due to a Rumsfeld resignation? How will Rumsfeld leaving bring closure to the issue? The pictures/investigations/hearings will continue rolling, right? That's not politics, it is desperate appeasement. If it happens now it will not only be bad politics, but bad PR. Rumsfeld should read his apology and then get right back up in Teddy's fat face... Make sure he points out what this really is - terrorists, media, and party hacks attempting to paint the US with one big bloody brush based on the actions of a few criminals... He should be sure to throw out a few "Senator, stop generalizing - doing so implies that all of our sons and daughters in Iraq are somehow criminals. And I know you would not do that." A great setup for the 70's footage of Kerry's testimony... which should begin running regularly this summer.
