I understand your outrage. The ME is not America or Europe. Things don't happen that way there and it isn't because people don't care. We don't get to see the real people and they don't get to see the real American. Privately people condemn such things and religious teachers condemn it. But public voices might be quickly compensated with consequences that none of us would be able to bear. Especially now when there is almost so much mob anger in the streets.

We saw and heard about one kind of Iraqi before Saddam's capture and the death of his sons (100%) approval from the voters. We saw and heard about a different kind of Iraqi afterwords... tearing down and defacing his statues and images. So, we can't go by what we see on tv. In addition, I have seen ME people flip flop quickly as they get information in many circumstances.

People are not thinking clearly right now but when (if) things stablize these heinous acts will be seen for what they were. People are frightened for thier lives, their families, their futures, and their very souls. And they are not getting clear information on what is truthfully their options. If we lose on this front in Iraq ... we lose more than a political election ... way more.
