What is discredited is the assertion of scientific bases for such comparisons when there is no supporting data. Unsubstantiated speculation is not science. There used to be a whole pseudo- scientific biology of racial comparisons that was finally tossed out because it was not valid science. Coal soot does not cause changes, mutations cause changes. Coal soot can only establish conditions favoring or disfavoring certain mutations.
