You state:
When did one crime justify the doing of another?
This is NOT a justification. I'm upset about the LACK of outrage with respect to Americans being treated so poorly. I'm also upset that the left is trying to make political hay with this unfortunate incedent.
If the outrage is greater for one rather than the other, and I am not clear that that's true, it may be because the 4 Americans were there of their own volition. The Iraqis were arrested for questionable crimes, not given due process and not treated in accordance with the Geneva Conventions. If there is a difference in reactions, its for those differences in the two events......particularly in the Arab world.
You close with: however, it does not justify doing whatever we want to do in the name of retribution
Why are you attempting to spin this into a retribution angle?
Because your comments suggested that the treatment of the Iraqis, if not justified by the deaths of 4 Americans, then at least they were neutralized. I don't agree.
More importantly, why are you not upset with pictures of charred Americans being desecrated?
I was......I was as disgusted as I am about the Iraqis. However, those 4 men were in Iraq of their own volition to make serious money. They knew the risk and they took it. I worry more for our troops who more than ever are at great risk given our despicable treatment of the Iraqis. Why are you not concerned about our troops? They now are in grave danger if they are captured. Whereas Pfc. Maupin from Ohio.......we have not heard squat about him for days?
Previously, our troops were treated fairly well when captured. No longer!
Both issues deserve attention. Alas, the left is using this issue as a way to attack the Bush administration. That's the unspoken tragedy.
Of course we're attacking the Bush administration.......they are responsible for these horrific acts. We were opposed to the war from the get go. Not only have we been subjected to a questionable, pre emptive war but we are paying through the nose for it as well in terms of lives and money.
Under those conditions, tell me that you wouldn't be furious?! If you said otherwised, I wouldn't believe you. |
