Your denial of religion as a primary factor in the Yugoslavian wars is unfathomable, given the evidence. Combatants were divided by religion. Victims were commonly singled out by their religion. Each side destroyed the others religious symbols and places of worship. The Serbs and Croats 'cleansed' their areas of all Muslims. The actions had the implicit support of the local religious authorities, who attempted to protect the murderers later when they were brought up on war crimes.

That bin Laden waves the Koran when committing his atrocities does not in itself prove that Islam is a religion of murder. The Serbs and Croats, through their actions, have the same effect: imposition of their religion, and an attempt to wipe out the places of worship (and people) of another religion. Just because they did not quote biblical verses while committing their war crimes does not change the fact that their actions were directed along religious lines.

Another good article (which, I'm sure, you discredit because it doesn't match your preconceptions):

If I, as a Catholic, seek out and murder individuals based on their religious affiliation, destroy their places of worship, then is that not a jihad?

Where are you getting the millions killed by Islam? And the 'relatively small numbers' killed in the name of the Christianity? Starting with the Crusades, the Middle Ages were filled with wars in the name of some brand of Christianity. Not to mention how the entire Central and South Americas were enslaved so they could be 'saved'.

Marx provided the world with a new evil insight: that men could be made to murder and pillage without the need to invoke the name of God. They could finally drop the pretext of 'doing God's work' when slaughtering innocents. Such is progress.
