The Patriot Act was rushed through right after 9-11 with threats that anyone who questioned it would be branded as an appeaser of terrorism. It has some provisions in thre we don't need and Ashcroft is not exactly a guardian of our civil rights. It just needs to be fixed. People of all political stripes agree with that.
