Reason I asked was that my last boss, 15 years ago, told me I was a loose cannon right before I quit. I think he meant that I had initiative, and did not need, or want, constant supervision. At any rate, consequently I tend to think that being a loose cannon isn't necessarily a bad thing, if you want to be an entrepreneur or self-employed.
