Sharon could have arrested that cleric in a wheelchair in the blink of an eye.

If he didn't mind fighting a pitched battle in Gaza City and killing a few hundred civilians along with a few hundred Hamas gunmen, not to mention the Israeli casualties.

The civilized approach would have been arrest, trial, conviction and execution

Israel has not occupied Gaza City or had jurisdiction there since 1994. The PA has jurisdiction. It is was the PA's legal duty under the Oslo accords to arrest the leaders of Hamas and shut down the militants. They refused to do so. Israel spent years trying to get them to uphold their part of the bargain. They never did.

All the stuff you dregde up about genocide is a measure of the weakness of your position

The stuff I "dredge" up happens to be true, and as such is a measure of the barbarity of Israel's enemies, who also happen to be our enemies. Your isolationism is preposterous. The US has been involved in the Mideast for 50 years, due to oil. No part of the world can declare itself uninvolved with dysfunctions of the Mideast, which were not caused by Israel, and from which Israel only serves as a convenient distraction for the local tyrants.

Osama bin Laden, by his own words, declared war on the US because we had troops on the sacred soil of Saudi Arabia, who were there to protect the kingdom from Saddam Hussein, who without our interference would be ruling over Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Gulf today. Israel did not cause this situation, and we could not afford to pretend that having Saddam Hussein control most of the world's oil was no skin off our nose.

That is why no serious person considers isolationism seriously, much less your racist remarks about "anglo celtic" people.
