Gottfried, Thanks for the chart. It really shows how much INTC pulled back from capital investment in 2002 and 2003. That should bode well for a return to higher capital investment by INTC in the near future.

I am extremely interested in seeing the SEMI report this month on Bookings. Right now, according to the last report, it is scheduled for release on Thursday, 20 May.

Since early in 2001, Bookings(and therefore sales) have been lower than "average" compared to the prior period going back all the way to 1995. This shows that not only INTC, but the other companies as well, have not been investing to their previous levels in capital equipment. That is why I find it hard to believe those in the analyst camp that say investment is to level off in 2H04 and "fall" in 2005 - not as long as the economy continues to improve as it looks like it will at the moment.
