I have met many people and continue to meet people from different areas in the country and especially the religious right who run down and denigrate Islam. They see this war as re;igious war. When the man at the helm claims that he is appointed by God to be President, it says it all. So I am not claiming it to be religious based on one nut Lt. Gen. Boykin. I am basing it on the general trend in this country amongst a few but a loud minority starting with the President.

And about Abu Ghraib, it is not a few nuts who perpetrated that. THis is again a trend from the very top. It started with Bush who wanted the intelligence fabricated to implicate Iraq (thanks to Clarke, Woodward and Oneil). And from there on down it go all the way with the military brass and the CIA using torture tactics trying to get to something which does not exist. When your goal is to get to something that does not exist, you resort to very extreme methods.
