I tried to use freecycle- but there was no active group in our area. However, I am pleased to report that just leaving stuff outside with a sign on it that said "FREE"- made a lovely teak wall unit, an oak coffee table, and oak platform bed disappear. If people don't have freecycle active near them, I'd urge them to at least try putting it out front of the house with a nice big sign- none of our stuff was out for longer than 2 hours.
