Said piece of gear (at least as one may encounter north of Big Sur, which is the only part of California that really matters) is actually a wine bottle opener for Jeroboams (for you Texans, this is a very large wine bottle typically holding approximately 3 liters and named after the king of the northern kingdom of Israel. Apparently he was quite the tippler.)
