Q Television Network a Smash Hit at Major Convention; Participation Leads to Increased Awareness of Unique New Cable Television Network 5/10/2004 12:27:00 PM
NEW ORLEANS, May 10, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Q Television Network's (OTCPK: QBID) participation in the annual convention hosted by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) was a resounding success for the network--adding to the momentum already in place as Q Television prepares for an industry launch next month.
The 53rd Annual Convention and International Exposition, "The 2004 National Show," was held in New Orleans May 2 - 5 and is the principle trade show for the cable television industry. The NCTA represents 90 percent of the nation's cable television households and more than 200 cable program networks.
Among the benefits Q Television Network identified through its participation were:
-- Prominent exhibition space, located at the front of the exhibit hall, thus visible to all entrants
-- High traffic volume to Q Television Network booth
-- Successful meetings with shareholders and potential investors
-- Interviews with major national, local and business publications, including Hollywood Reporter and Buzzine Magazine, with anticipated coverage in New Orleans CityBusiness
-- Positive discussions with cable companies - follow-up meetings already scheduled to fast track carriage
In addition, the exhibition offered Q Television the perfect venue to host a premier preview of an original documentary created for the network. "I Will, I Do, We Did" explores gay and lesbian marriage in America, offering an inside glimpse of the challenges faced by this community. The documentary was so well received that several suggestions for national rewards were received.
"The interest level in Q Television Network, the programming it will offer and the audience it will reach was tremendous," notes Steven Grunberg, President of Programming and Acquisitions, the driving force behind the effort of Q Television at this exhibit.
Mr. Grunberg went on to comment, "Frankly we were somewhat overwhelmed by the support and encouragement we received from everyone visiting our booth, both from within and from outside our community, further validating our concept and our market timing. At times we could not handle the visitors all at once, despite the fact that we had 4 people permanently manning the booth. Although we had high expectations for this exhibit, we could not have dreamed that we could have become such a smash hit. Our potential audience is estimated to be around 20 million people, with a combined annual value of between $500 and $700 billion, making Q Television extremely appealing to today's advertisers."
In addition to work at the exhibition, meetings were held with Barbara Lemont of Network Teleport in New Orleans, who had previously announced that carriage of the Q Television signal will commence on June 1, 2004 on Telstar 7, Transponder 1.
Company Overview
This television network was organized to create and develop a network devoted to providing television programming for the gay and lesbian community. While the company expects much of its subscriber base to be comprised of members of the gay and lesbian population, management also believes that quality programming about the gay and lesbian experience, designed to entertain, educate and inform, will attract many other segments of the viewing public. The company's programming will be available on a subscription basis to those desiring its programming. The network will broadcast 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Providing distribution via satellite ensures availability of the network across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
