But where islam is concerned, the leaders themselves are using islam to call for the literal murder of people who are not even attached to the issues, and muslims across the entire world are essentially silent. There just is no intramuslim struggle being fought for the defense of the slaughtered innocent.
Here is yet another place you are utterly and hopelessly wrong. In the Crusades, the head of the Christian church called for war on the heathens. Today, a minor cleric (not even an Ayatollah, much less a Grand Ayatollah) calls for jihad - the equivalent of a Catholic priest calling for a crusade. With regards to church authority, it is the difference between the President signing a treaty, and say, you.
No comparison. Bozo Laden's call for jihad has about as much Islamic authority as if your local priest called for a Crusade.
As far as Islam's response to the WTC attacks, they have been numerous and loud. You simply choose not to listen. Here are a few, from a newspaper advertisement taken out in the New York Times right after 9/11:
"Hijacking Planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood constitute a form of injustice that can not be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts." Shaykh Abdul Aziz al-Ashaikh, Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Senior Ulama, on September 15th, 2001
"The terrorists acts, from the perspective of Islamic law, constitute the crime of hirabah (waging war against society)." September 27, 2001 - Fatwa, signed by: Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Grand Islamic Scholar and Chairman of the Sunna and Sira Countil, Qatar Judge Tariq al-Bishri, First Deputy President of the Council d'etat, Egypt Dr. Muhammad s. al-Awa, Professor of Islamic Law and Shari'a, Egypt Dr. Haytham al-Khayyat, Islamic scholar, Syria Fahmi Houaydi, Islamic scholar, Syria Shaykh Taha Jabir al-Alwani, Chairman, North America High Council
"Neither the law of Islam nor its ethical system justify such a crime." Zaki Badawi, Principal of the Muslim College in London. Cited in Arab News, September 28, 2001.
"It is wrong to kill innocent people. It is also wrong to praise those who kill innocent people." Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai, Pakistan. Cited in the New York Times, September 28, 2001.
"What these people stand for is completely against all the principles that Arab Muslims believe in." King Abdullah II, of Jordan; cited in the Middle East Times, September 28, 2001.
Subsequent Muslim opinion has turned against Bush and the US for our mishandling of Iraq. However, there is no respected, high ranking Muslim church leader calling for jihad - just a bunch of bozo terrorists.
As usual, your ignorance of reality is just too obvious to ignore. You're in for a mighty letdown when your bubble of self delusion bursts, and Bush is thrown out on his ear. Keep the meds close when that happens - hey, it works for Cyberken. |
