Reading your posts, it seems to be the prison problem that made you want to dump Rummy.

What would you have said after 10 years of vietnam with 50k casualties--that there is lite at the end of the tunnel?

That was 10 years and 50k dead. This is one year and 750 dead. Did Vietnam teach us to have no endurance at all?

Things could be better, and Bush has made poor use of the bully pulpit. But neither is Iraq up in flames, there is no general insurgency, most the Iraqis want to have a modern state, non Ba'athist and non clerical. We owe it to them as well as ourselves to help them get it.
