Undoubtedly your fax and fridge are up to No Good; probably colluding to torment you. The fridge, at a guess, is contemplating a Labor Day Weekend breakdown. That's what MY appliances do.
And my computer. This morning the AC adapter blew, with the sound of ten pounds of corn popping. It was weird and terrifying. And if you think it's EASY to find ANY kind of shop open in Italy the third week of August, think again. I despaired. But did the only thing possible: called my ISP (at least they have to be there) and asked for some phone numbers.
Incredibly, an electronics place near me was actually open. Had of course to wait till lunchtime was over at three, but never mind. Once arrived, the guys, being guys, wanted to try to figure out what was WRONG with the adapter, and so took it apart. I could have TOLD them what was wrong. It was BROKEN. Which was their eventual conclusion. So since this sort is product isn't really sold separately, they had to fix me up with what is basically a transformer. Large. Heavy. But for the moment, it works, at least.
While I was there I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask them why I was having such awful problems with my supposedly Superior nickel metal hydride cell phone battery. So for another hour or so we did the Diagnosis number, concluding at last that the battery was DYSFUNCTIONAL. No shit Sherlock. So I bought another one.
I am very tired. I have an awful headache. Can't quite tell whether I was lucky or unlucky, if you see what I mean...
