Actually, the problem the so-called liberal media has is that its ideas are out of date. Sixty years ago liberal ideas were exciting and "cutting edge" and the conservatives or "right" was bereft of decent ideas.

The "left" or liberals now are in that position but haven't recognized it in any way comparable to the way the right did some twenty years or more ago when they started establishing their own "thinktanks" because the "left" had/has something like monopoly control of universities, or more fairly, the discourse which goes on in them.

Intra-mural debate there between the two sides never happened in any significant way and the left got to contemplate its navel rather than refine its ideas or generate new ones.

So the NY Times or le Monde trots out their news coverage seen through out of date fuzzy marxist lenses while the precious few right leaning news organs such as the Telegraph are looking through new lenses ground by people such as Oakeshot and Hayek who had the advantage of examining both the intellectual and material weaknesses of Marxist derived views.

It can't be helped because most folk working for newspapers now went to university and are "journalists" and not reporters.

In the meantime, the right has done an end run around the large news organs and gone to talk radio and the internet.

I was in France when the Gulag Archipelago was published there. The left there simply could not look straight at it and examine the devastating conclusion. And it still can't.

There are plenty of "absolutists" on both right and left but the advantage those on the right have is a set of better ideas, which, because they are absolutists, they abuse.
