I guess we have to ask if it would have been right to detain Eva Braun, had we had the opportunity to get our hands on her..

And we really have to ask whether or not Saddam's wives would have been legitimate detainees..

These women can at least be declared material witnesses, given their knowledge of the activities of their husbands (as well as having received and enjoyed the "fruits" of their power and influence)..

But definitely a fine line holding them. And totally uncalled for to threaten to kil them, if this were the case....

What would have been permissible, but controversial, would have been to threaten to turn them over to other Iraqis for "justice" (ala Mussolini and his mistress).
