True, but that only means Intel will benefit more by reducing bus traffic as much as possible.

Also remember that the fewer processors plugged into a bus, the faster Intel can run that bus. 4-way is probably stuck with a 400 MHz bus, but 2-way can run on a 533 MHz bus (or faster in the near future), and single-processor can run on an 800 MHz bus (or faster). Going with multi-core processors means you don't have to plug in more processors per bus.
