They have met their match in war hero John Kerry though.

Kerry, thus far, has disappointed me. He wasn't my Democratic choice to begin with, but his policy positions [at a high level] are too similar to those of Bush. Iraq, for example, "stay the course". You get to the next level, e.g., "build a true coalition" and that's a lot easier to say than it is to do. Particularly now.

I'll vote for Kerry without hesitation, but he hasn't differentiated himself against Bush anywhere near enough. I'll give him that this is "per-season" campaigning and the real campaign doesn't start until after the conventions and it could be a strategically correct to lay back until the real campaign gets going. But there are far too many people that are paying attention to the election this early and it may an error to ignore it. If Bush defines Kerry, it's tough to undo.
