Instead, it's an engineering no-brainer.

The transistor budget for Intel may be better served by moving the logic of the northbridge onto the chip.

I was suggesting that Intel was pushing a dual core announcement much earlier than is practical for that design as a FUD tactic. Not that dual core didn't make sense at all.
