Rory, I wish it worked the way we all would like it, but it never has and most likely never will. War is hell and shit happens as it has in all past wars from the begging of time. The sad reality is if more people felt the way you do today back in the 40's, you would be speaking Japanese instead of English. War should be left to those who have been trained to kill and survive and should not be judged by the media and the masses that don't have a clue as to what it takes to win. We had every right to torture the prisoners; it may have led to fewer dead Americans one of which could have been your son or daughter. Laws in this country have nothing to do with the rules of war.
