If you can make a widget for 25 c, how can you then reduce the cost to 20 c, 15 c and so on. Manufacturing got systematically shifted abroad (Mexico) and then again (China, Taiwan, Malaysia). Productivity goal : $700 K per employee (almost there, about the highest i've seen) PS: i know, not good for the SV employment picture. Somewhat better at that offshore sweatshop.
