I just heard on CSPAN that Abu Gharib had 45,000 inmates a few months ago.

No kidding? That's pretty incredible, especially in light of US Prison statistics.

As of Feb. 2004, US correctinal facilities totaled 104, with a total population of 174,179.

And you're saying a single prison outside Baghdad held 45,000 prisoners, about 25% of the total number of prisoners held he all federal correctional institutions in the United States?

This in a country that has a total population of 25 million people? That's some prison, dude, if it can hold 45,000 inmates.

Got a link to support that claim?

The one about 45,000 inmates.
