Zogby zees the future

Pollster John Zogby writes, “John Kerry will win the election,” and “if he doesn't it will be because he blew it.”

Zogby gives four reasons for his assertion:

• President Bush's poll numbers are fairly anemic for an incumbent.

• Very few voters are undecided for this early in a campaign. Thus, voters probably have made a judgment about the incumbent and are looking for an alternative.

• The economy still is the top issue for voters, while bad news from the Iraq war, a strong point for the president, is dominating coverage.

• “Finally, if history is any guide, Senator Kerry is a good closer.”
