I think your post attempts to blame him for his death. Let us not do that, His death and the death of other Iraqis is due to the atmosphere of hatred for the Americans that has developed over the course of the past 6 months. The Iraqis want the Americans out of there. I do agree that if they pull out, chaos would rein and those innocent Iraqi lives would be lost anyway. But then they would to lost to bullets fired by those hoodlums/terrorists and not US bullets. Should that happen, then an international military force which also includes the US could go in immediately to restore order. But for now, with the US behavior in Abu Ghraib etc., we have no reason to be there since with every passing day it will prove to be a quagmire.
