The secret wish (and hope) of Kerry supporters is that, if he's elected, the Republicans will retain control of Congress such that gridlock will occur. They don't really want Kerry to actually implement any of his half-baked ideas. Those who do either hope to be beneficiaries of additional entitlements or believe they will be unaffected by tax increases. Just my impression.
