Do an internet search for 'false flag operation' and you will see that it is a speciality of the Israeli secret service, the Mossad, whose motto is "By deception shalt thou do war". The Gulf of Tonkin incident which started Vietnam war was also one. Pearl Harbour and Hitler's burning of the Reichstad also come to mind. Clearly, many such attacks must pass by unnoticed but, once one recognizes that they do occur, it is best to consider that any "incident", even the recent beheading of an American in Iraq, could be one. Often it is the exaggerated and premeditated response to the attack that gives rise to the clue that it was one, the attack being the trigger. Or else some other advantage.
