You mean these stupid questions:

When Rodney King was beaten by police officers, were you demanding the firing of the mayor of LA and governor of CA?

When a couple of NYPD officers sodomized a suspect with a broom, were you demanding the firing of the mayor of NYC and governor of NY?

Do you really think that would have been a good idea, sperm whale?

If you read my answer about Rumsfeld you would know that the situation in LA and NY were completely different. I would have thought that you would know the difference, but I guess I'll have to spell it out for you.

The first difference, is that we are at war in Iraq. Management of detainees and obtaining intelligence from them is a CRITICAL operation. Therefore it is expected that detailed systems would be in place for gathering that intelligence. Lives of soldiers directly depend on the ability to obtain good intelligence. Therefore it is a CRITICAL operation that requires top down direction and organization.

The police actions in NY and LA, while egregious violations of existing regulations, do not constitute a CRITICAL operation in the prosecution of a war and therefore did not require top down direction. The officers violated standard operating procedures which were already in place. Therefore management should not be held responsible for their failure to follow established procedures.

In the case of a war action and the management of detainees and the gathering of military intelligence it is CRITICAL that procedures be in place for the gathering of that information. Therefore it was CRITICAL that those detainees and the potential intelligence to be gained from them, be managed in a methodical and systematic manner.

Apparently that was not done in the case of Abu Gharib, and therefore the managers of that situation need to be fired or resign. That would be Rumsfeld, and or the person or persons below him that are responsible for gathering this kind of intelligence.

You see the opportunity for gathering CRITICAL intelligence from the detainees was one that could not and should not have been done in anything but the most professional manner. There's no excuse for this that I can see when the lives of our service men and women are at risk. So what is the excuse that you have in mind?
