I don't think the General should get the axe here. This is not a matter of training, at least not of the military sort. The general is not responsible for training that should have taken place at childhood. She could only work with the trash she had been given. She likely thought her men warranted a certain basic degree of trust and she extended that trust. If this is true, then her assessment was wrong, of course. But it is understandable and to be expected of all decent people. I think it is wrong to nail her for this matter.
