That's all well and good, but when I reflect on the history of my own businesses I see a different pattern. Charts and economists say one thing, but my piggy bank tells no lies. Very weak if not negative accounts in the early eighties, with strength into 86, a crash and a very slow recovery into the 90s and blues skies until Bush Jr. showed up. I'll say this though, this is the first downturn where I haven't lost property or major tenants, which was the case in the early 80s and between 88 to 92.
