I know for a fact that ML is taking its research very seriously given the requirements of the Settlement. As i understand it they will be comparing their results with that of independents--the S&Ps as well as seveal other smaller firms--and this all will be prominently displayed for their clients. $32 on amat when its at 18 is quite a brave call. I wouldnt dismiss the calls of the 10 largest firms in the Settlement as they too will be doing these comparisons. Dont ask me how i know all this but i do. Mike
