Yes but he and others were encouraged by his government. BTW, the Yenta brigade now indicates that Nick decided to forgo US aid in getting out. I cant understand that because buddies of his over there say, he couldnt wait to go home.
Watching him and Danny Perl go down reminds me of a different era when Michael Schwerner and Andy Goodman(classmate of mine) were killed in Mississippi alongside James Chaney. Just a historical memory and probably no relationship to each other except for idealistic Jews perhaps naively putting themselves in harms way. Mike
