Democrats' complaining about the high cost of any social program is like a kid in a candy factory whining about all the sweets. To democrats, increased spending on any program that they like and support is the measure of success. The criticism based on cost is just hypocritical political hot air.

AARP supports the prescription drug plan as a first step, which is what it was advertised to be.

Did democrats oppose FDR's implementation of Social Security 70 years ago because it might have solvency problems 70 years in the future? Maybe it was a bad idea after all, given your logic.
