The companies can only advertise the EPA schedule. Which is acceleration at a certain pace, followed by some constant speed for a certain time, so many cycles of stop and go, etc....

The 70% of EPA mileage is well known. However, a driver who looks ahead, avoids rush hour, doesn't race up to the stop light, etc.... can get much better mileage.

Everyone's driving is obviously different. We bought a new car recently, so I started driving my wife's old van. She was getting 16 mph for several years. I am getting 22 mph.
